This 32-hour, intensive training that covers the history of interpretation, interpretive principles, techniques, how to develop and deliver interpretive programs and more. IT also includes a certificate of completion and one-year professional membership with the National Association for Interpretation.

Join us in downtown Georgetown, South Carolina for the 2026 Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor South Carolina Summit a two-day gathering celebrating culture, community and preservation. 

This year’s theme, “Voices of Preservation: Culture, Land & Legacy,” will explore critical conversations surrounding Gullah traditions, language preservation, cultural tourism, and heirs’ property conservation. Attendees will hear from inspiring speakers, including keynote speaker Ron Daise.

Participants will learn how the unique coastal landscapes of the Southeast helped preserve distinct language, foodways, arts, crafts, and environmental knowledge rooted in West and Central African traditions. The program will also touch on the current challenges facing Gullah Geechee communities, including land loss and development pressures—and emphasized the importance of protecting cultural landscapes and living heritage for future generations.

For generations, the Gullah Geechee people have shaped the history, culture, and economy of the Southeast. Now, as conveners of the culture, we are deepening our strategic conversation across the Corridor, to amplify the voices to protect, preserve, and advance our heritage.
